The Renaissance, was the time the Dutch Republic was formed and a time of great strife for freedom, and laissez faire.
Under mecaenat of Willem Of Orange great works were written (eg John Locke Treatise on Tolerance)
A little less know is the book I would save from a flood-and that is why I mention it here- to add to the shelf of a future mother, is ‘The Whole Duty of Man According to the Law of Nature’ the lifeswork of german Samuel Pufendorf.
Other great lesser known writers on freedom; Bastiat, Spooner.

I looked up The Whole Duty of Man. It can be read at Internet Archive (link). He writes some good things in a clear and straightforward way. Thank you for sharing. The work, originally written in Latin, is titled Dē officiō hominis, and the German title is Über die Pflicht des Menschen. The Latin version can be read here but I could not find an available German translation.
