Hello from Franconia

Post by Katharina_E »

Dear Forum members,
I am very interested to find left overs from the origin people and our ancestors. I am also researching on names, buildings, mountains, caves and so on.
I am happy to be here and I am looking forward to interesting discussions and insights.
Best regards, Katharina

Bonjour Katharina and welcome!

It has been quiet here lately, but that will certainly change again.

Hello Francia, there is so much out there to find.
for example
You can look at the Friesian Church in Rome just outside of the Vatican .
It is older than the Vatican itself.
Or you can look in Domburg at the statue of Nyhelena/Helena/Minerva or Renesse. Texel is where Frya lived.
You can look at languages. the Dutch/friesian language is found in many languages in the world.
`Like English, South African, Flemish, Russian, Indonesian, Swiss and many more.
You can look at the Flag Red White and Blue. Dutch flag is the oldest 3 colour flag in the world. Russia's flag's colours is in honor of the Dutch flag. English flag same colours as is the American flag.
England was taken over by the Dutch/Orange in 1688 in the glorious revolution.
Or you can look at the Christmas carols where the YuleTime Is named.....
Or look at old Maps. New Zealand I named after Zeeland, Australia used to be New Holland, Tasmania is named after Albert Tasman.
The New Netherlands was what New York State plus Connecticut plus Rhode Island plus Martha's Vineyard plus New Jersey plus Delaware plus part of Pennsylvania(Pensilvania Dutch)
Maybe I forget something.
But 9 of the original 13 state where in whole or in part New Netherlands.
The Dollar comes from the Dutch Daalder ...... Look for Lion Dollar and Rix Dollar
You can also look for the story of the Windover Bodies.
I can go on for days

There is so many things to look at, this just what popped in my mind

I hope you find this helpful
