What is the proper translation and interpretation of the old frisian word for "show" in the following sentence (the last sentence in the section, "The Oldest Doctrine", of the OLB):

"As he [Wr-alda] endures, he alone exists; everything else is show."

Yes, it is the Sandbach translation. But regarding the new translation, what is the difference between 'being' and seeming? Is "seeming" illusion? As regards "With the circling of the Yule..

That was the Sandbach translation of Ottema's

en omdat hij blijft, daarom is hij alleen wezen, en al het andere schijn.

The Fryas text is:

ÀND THRVCH THET ER BILÍWATH. THÉRVMBE IS HY ALLÉNA WÉSA. ÀND AL ET ÔRA SKIN.

My current translation, edited/improved by Bruce Stafford, is:

and since he endures, only he is ‘being’ and everything else ‘seeming’.

In earlier editions, I used emergence.

The Fryas word SKIN is found in the verb SKINA (seem, shine) and FORSKINA (appear), as noun meaning (wandering, lost) 'ghost' and several words derived from these as well as compounds. Dutch/German varieties include 'schijn-' and 'schein-'. English 'shine', but also 'skin' (hide).

If you have more questions like these, you should learn to use the wiki. The least thing you could have done was find out what my translation is and not rely on Sandbach's version only.

Is the wiki part of this website? Is there a tutorial that shows one how to use the wiki? Should I have asked whether there were other translations of the OLB (I wanted to buy a 4'th edition of the new English translation but was told they were sold out and the 5'th edition was not ready for sale--is it ready now)? What I am trying do is to discover the metaphysics of the OLB through understanding the interpretation of the old frisian. How do you interpret the word "seeming" that you used as your translation? Is it "illusion" as used in Advaita Vedanta?

I must admit, having now read ott's translation of the Oera Linda Codex and the footnotes therein on wiki, that I have now a greater understanding of its metaphysics than I had before. Thank you, ott, for giving us such a wonderful gift! It is sad that the only translation available for public consumption is Sandbach's....

You just consumed it, free of charge, with links to transcript, ms pages and other translations (even in other languages).
