The texborg

Lokking for more knowledge on how this would look, I just imagined abig tower like a lighthouse, stone bottom like the bourghs found in scotland, and some fachwerk on top, maybe even the red/white colors of lighthouses. But I wiil make the longhouses more like scandinavian or german

It's tricky trying to get a clear understanding in my head about what a burg would have looked like. I thought of the pictish castles myself as being close, and so far the only hexagonal towers I have found have all been from the Normans. Old Wardour Castle has the right proportions to it, but that is a hollow tower with a court in the middle. Another six-sided castle is Raglan Castle, supposedly these designs having come from France. Though if the Fryans were more common in what we call France than medieval historians believe, maybe the most Burgs would be found there.

I imagine the borg to be a last defence, but also fit for a cerimonial audience. And teaching or dwelling of the maidens. The sacred Light could be in a main inner room, but I thought that they might also have a platform or a wooden tower on top where a guiding light for ships may be, even a copper horn for sound. Maybe it had basalt walls, baked stones were not made I think? but I suppose wood would be their specialty. So I figured the upper part could be wood and high. A square outer shape seems likely because we see that everywhere. The town would probably have fortification, ditches around, and maybe built on a terp, or maybe just some buildings. Would a harbour be part of the town? The 36 dwellings for visitors could maybe be arranged in a square of 9 groups of 4 little houses.
Since it was a big deal, the Texborg might be exeptional looking, and probably militarily smart. So a court, outerwall or steps? Is there a location where it may have stood, or lost to the sea?

They seem to have used fired bricks; ch. 13h:

All is of locally fired brick (HÍR.BAKKEN STÉN), and none are brought in from elsewhere.

and ch. 16b:

he had forty old ships loaded with burg weapons, wood, bricks that were baked here (HIR.BAKEN STÉN), carpenters, masons, and smiths, in order to build burgs

Is there a location where it may have stood, or lost to the sea?

Fryasburg (Texland) may have been where now Den Burg (Texel); Walhallagara — Middelburg; Forana — Sint Pancras; Medeasblik — Medemblik; Treasureburg (Waraburg) — perhaps Hoorn, etc. Note that in Frethorik's time all burgs except Fryasburg were destroyed. Since the names of the places may have moved, original locations may have been where now is water.

Thanks. I couldnt help myself drawing some more. I watched a few medieaval groninger stone borgs that are still standing for some inspiration, so the last (top) one is the most realistic I suppose. I lack any true historical or architectural knowledge, and the drawings are just me thinking out loud, and I humbly hope to serve all or any of you with it.
