Re: Happy Easter
They are both wonderfull. The top one reminds me of Paul Kidby's covers for the Terry Pratchet novels. I love the patterns on the other one, it would work great as a tatoo.

Re: Happy Easter
Wow! Great combining of themes/art styles and again great skill in texture drawing.
Re: Happy Easter
My Talent
I believe I have a right to create things. Create the world anew. Pick out, connect, mix. Follow my own logic. To where I don't care so much about what was explained but more about inner consistency. And so I have a projection. I believe. As a crafter I control my craft. My words, like a prayer, the shapes as an order. the thinking as a dream. But with that inner logic, I tell a story. The meaning.
So as a creator I dont even have to care about OL's, or Ior Bock's Saga's historical truth to make inspirational art and connection to worthwhile truth.
Christ, Wodan, whatever.
"Therefore I say onto thee;" follow my drift...
Wod is water, lifebringer. Wod is wave, the force, kraft. Wodanas is born of this. Born from the kraft, he was in the world to shape it. The original kraftr. He was Adam, he named the things, he found the dualisms and all of the great problems, went through hell, or plato's cave, lost his innocence and found himself confronted by a Phoenix with ominous dazzling appearence, controlling the tree of life. In humans way toward flourishing and ascent. In the way of connecting to Wralda, nature, the Root, the Well, the Light, to your true self. He saw that this embodyment or mirror of his false understandings and presumptions (or adhearance to false teachings) needed to be defeated, and for him to find his kairos for a sublime shot. Saving Odal, paradise.
A challenge we, his decendants also often faced ourselves. And we more and more revered endurance and martyrdom to Nietsches dissaproval. I believe it should describe a painforced realisation, rebirth, and most of all a recuperation act, agency, a craft. Or holy sight, flow. Like water, steering. Heracles submitted nature, now we have to allign to it, cherish it and defeat our arrogance, but also refind the boldness. This is the culmination of my personal ordering of all things esoteric, religious and masculine.
Refers to so many stories, dimensions, religeous points of view, and reality, that it's my 'key icon' to all of it.
But I hesitated to share it because of all of this too. Merging pagan and monotheist and filosophical thought, it's meant as an exercise to a germanic but oriented way of thinking, not as a one world religion. I'm actually wary of esotericism and religion, and it is almost meant more as a dissolvant, than an attempt at dogma. Maybe the bird is achamenid, roman, or just the dark side of frau Holle, because of our shortcomings, and manifest in the berserk western femininity of today, and it could if we correct ourselves just as well be benign like the Yasidi interpret. A Freya fugele. The healthy feminine.
I imagine most days, the bird -as a metaphore of the imperfect (mental)world we create- can hang around, for peace's sake and we certainly shouldn't go out and project dragons to be slain on everything, so the passive-agressive martyr is mostly fine for this easter rebirth-victory-theme.
But without drawing lines we are nowhere, and we can't create. So I draw lines. With a pencil even.
The bowman theme was inspired from Asha Logos's adagia, and also links my wodanas-adam-jesus-in-one to Apollo and others. And us.
This is expressing faith, dedication, selfcontrol and courage.
Agency, knowing what to do, not rebellion or warriorworship . Just spiritual manlyness in a European context and artlanguage. Confining the core heromyths and redemption in with creationmyths in one icon, as people need their truths in a compact portable manner.
I'm done with that for now. I always felt I needed to defeat (the wreck of) filosofy to truely become an artist, so maybe that's what happened here.
Momentarily I'm diving more into the matriachal side of old Europe, artwork- and linguistical quests, and daily life subjects.
Because it's been my superstition that we were always less wooed by 'the eastern mystery insights' politics, which my drawing still plays into, or replies to, and even Nietsche and many, even most, known AD European thought engages with.
That folklore, folksmind, reli-cultural practice was lived, friendly, life loving, fluid, honest, pious and plain. Though highly intelligent, earnest, deep and wise, would fit naturally, find a way, interwoven with daily life and common mentality. As it is in our being. Still there, as is it's language, more immovable than we even dare see with our 'educated' mediaminds. I recognise it in NW Europeans. I recently found Harald Haarmann, to add to OLB and also Bock's language-quest who feel very much true because of this recognition, and all delivered at least this 'worthwhile truth' to me. Or Jorjani's latest talk about subversion in Plato.
Like riding a bike it shows we can depend on some muscle-memory and tangential clicks to get somewhere. So I'm no archeologist or linguist, and intuitive, but it got me further faster in my experience, if I'm meanwhile also committed to finding out all relevant knowledge on my route and can swallow pride, I can dare to ride 'flows' of the highest order. Like Tolkien shows, the more you fit worthwhile stuff in, the more worthwhile it becomes even if it's not 1 on 1 with history, the art part fixes that. And that's why I'm here.
Any suggestions or commissions for artwork are welcome.
I can post my naive sketches and wordtheories, but just so you know, all are wide open to correction and debate, For example my previous connection of wod to wodan is not there according to linguists if I'm correct. Because the obvious importance of water is something recent I thought of, not part of the creation of the drawings, I still followed my urge to let a watertheme accompany my writing. As well as other associative thinking. I also made up my handle not knowing if it really is a word.
I dont want to make this forum unserious, and you should please historically, linguistically and filosofically inform, correct or critique me. Forge me. My brainstorms and drawings are often fruitfull, lucky or at least interesting or pretty, but still often unfinished, poorly started first draws, insufficiently informed or imbedded in existing lore and knowledge.
I'd love to taste the apples, but know to respect the bird and crank my skills and wits before I catch it just right through honest engagement.
