The Watch of the Maidens

Post by Festadela »

The Watch of the Maidens

Through the dark of the longest night,
The Maids keep watch for Frya’s Light.
Upon the walls, where the stylus traced,
The ancient Tex is ne’er erased.
Though the North-wind howls and the winter sighs,
The spirit of the Mother never dies.

We keep the watch for the coming day,
For the Êwa that guides our way.
For the unborn blood and the free-born sons,
We feed the flame till the morning comes.

The stone is old, but the flame is bright,
Thju Foddik burns through the darkest night.
Though the world is torn, we stand the same,
Bound by the Tex and the Mother’s name.
