Re: 2 questions/suggestions for “The oldest teachings”

It's difficult to respond to such well-thought out comments, but I have my doubts about the suggestions. A) We use "lords" in other contexts (BURCH.HÉRAN); B) I believe the meaning of small-g "god"/false "god" goes missing if we substituted "lords" (e.g. for ...

Re: Demonyms

Great topic. Excellent summary by Coco and great input from phi as well. I’m writing this without being able to look back at your responses, but I agree with the argument that Fryan is a quasi-Latinization. In fact, if I were to choose that form, I would go for phi’s/ChatGPT’s “Fryian”. The plural/p...

Foddik - fetish

This post is pure speculation, or shall we say a hypothesis: that the modern cognate of the word “Foddik” is “fetish” (a cult object believed to be imbued with supernatural powers).
I have no evidence other than the similarities between the words themselves and their meanings.

Re: Hi from Wieringen, the island of vikings..on the Dutch shore

Nice. I’ve been interested in Wieringen recently as the location of the Toletmark [page 60 manuscript]. Indeed, I wonder if that market on the Flee Lake is where we get the word “flea market “!!
